About This Blog!

This site is my personal blog.

The Title, “The Average Kashmiri” suggests to my humble background of being an ordinary Kashmiri (an inhabitant of a beautiful mountainous valley in Himalayas – the land which is wedged between India and Pakistan).

All writings here are original and are my own words/views/opinions. Even though I am not much into writing, neither do I know the complexities of it, but it feels nice to pen down the thoughts and let others read them too.

This blog mainly contains two sets of writings:-

1. Articles: These are long essays and columns written in prose form, many of which have been published in local news dailies of Kashmir, based on topics of Political, educational and abstract nature.

2. Poems: These include various forms of poetic expressions by the blogger, collected in the form of poems. The poems are based on various themes like Nature, Humanity, blogger’s homeland – Kashmir, Compassion, tolerance etc.

Please feel free to explore the site and to discuss any topic or to leave your opinion/feedback.

About the Author.

I am a very ordinary Kashmiri (the guy who adds Salt to his tea and loves it more than any other beverage in the world!!) with a little varied charms and tastes. Graduated in Bachelor’s of Business Management in 2009, currently pursuing Masters in Business Administration. I have a penchant for writing but find it hard to dedicate a considerable part of my time to it, the outcome being a “Rusting mind”…

  1. This is so pleasing to see someone’s writing from the land of beauty. I’ve had a soft corner for that valley since the very start, but never had a chance to visit it.
Your blog is beautiful, and the most delightful part is the humbleness and beauty of your nature which is clear through your words. Adds salt in tea? Cool, mate. I add it too. 😉
I am so very glad to be connected back to you. Have gone through some posts and they were truly inspiring. 🙂
Shall be looking forward to see more from your side.
    Regards,
    Hira.
P.S: One question if I may, you belong to occupied Kashmir or the other one? I fear, if I’ve missed it in the intro you’ve given. Just asking.

    • Thank you so much Hira Nazir. It feels so good to read such kind comments. And it wil surely encourage me to write more. God bless 🙂
      Stay connected.
By the way, I belong to Indian side of the Kashmir, which I think I haven’t mentioned above but i am updating it now.
      Thanks.

  2. Love the blog! You are a very talented poet. Thanks for visiting The Brass Rag! Come back and see us again soon.we are always interested in new perspectives.

  3. Is there an average any One, Kashmiri or other? Doubt if you’re average. I shall see though, by reading posts from your blog. Kashmir is a name similar to Shang-ri-La to so many western minds. Was just listening to the newer recording of “Kashmir” by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and some Egyptian musicians….epic and more Eastern-oriented now. Just being a blogger from Kashmir is of interest to many people…you’ve got a stage.

    • Well, honestly speaking, I don’t know if I’m blogging here to “be heard” on issues that plague my land or my people, or, may be I just want “to express” my own feelings.
Given that we like to put a “standard” in everything in today’s world, most of us are “Average” (ordinary) by one or the other parameter. But Yes, at the same time, We are all special in our own world, our own ways 🙂
About Kashmir, I am hopeful there will be a day when my voice will find a chorus and my people will be heard, and set free of their miseries..

(I dont know if I’m making sense, LOL, but I believe, Expression is always better).

      • Good for you ! I know little about Kashmir, except it’s on the border between two countries which have had their “problems” with each other, and Kashmir seems to be in the way of power grabbing, control, religious disagreement, and history…a powerful lot of influences for anyone to deal with. I think I will be a bit more informed given the chance to read your blog.
        Later…

  4. @Coyotero, I think you already know quite a bit about the basics and I don’t think My Blog will enlighten you about the political perspectives of the problem. It only contains my personal feelings, affected by the happenings on the ground, my expressions about how I, as an ordinary Kashmiri, want to see my people and my land.
I will be glad though to have a reader as you.. 🙂

  5. Sigh! Your blog is just too beautiful. You can consider me as an average Kashmiri too but just from the other side of kashmir.
    Keep in touch.
